They are an itinerant and are in the building on a limited basis. The school social worker provides diagnostic evaluations and services for social\u002Femotional development as part of the special education referral process. They are a link between the school, community, and family.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Ch2>School Psychologist\u003C\u002Fh2>\u003Cp>ASD20 assigns the school psychologist to AIES. They are an itinerant and are in the building on a limited basis. A school psychologist provides diagnostic evaluations relating to intellectual ability, academic proficiency, and psychological and emotional development. They participate in selected student intervention team meetings to evaluate the strengths and needs of students and to formulate meaningful interventions.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Ch2>School Nurse\u003C\u002Fh2>\u003Cp>ASD20 assigns school nurses to AIES. They are an itinerant and are in the building on a limited basis but are always within contact. Parents are encouraged to communicate with the district school nurse about their child's health concerns to determine if specific health plans need to occur for school. Parents need to provide the school with current immunization records and any evidence of contagious disease.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Ch2>Reading Support\u003C\u002Fh2>\u003Cp>Our reading support teachers are also Certified Academic Language Practitioners (CALPs). They provide reading interventions to students who have characteristics of dyslexia or read below grade-level expectations. Our reading tutor works with students on reading skills and proficiency. These services focus on the five components of effective reading instruction: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Vocabulary, Fluency and Reading Comprehension.
