Volunteering
We believe that students learn best when the community and our families work in partnership with the school. Be a source of special skills, personal attention, and an extra pair of hands when you become a volunteer! We welcome parent volunteers into our school in a variety of ways - the job and hours are up to you and the classroom teacher.
Volunteers are required to attend a training session and undergo various levels of background checks for the safety of students. For our children's safety, we require that all volunteers sign in at the office and wear a name badge. This includes lunch visitors as well as parents on the playground. Due to liability, children who do not attend AIES are not allowed on the playground during school hours or during your volunteer time. Learn more on ASD20.org or email School Secretary Jenifer Nelson.

Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)
AIES PTO exists to improve the learning environment for the students of Academy International Elementary School. We raise funds to purchase instructional materials, assist teachers so that they may maximize the time they spend with students, and promote parent involvement through hosting events that build community among families.
AIES has a very active PTO. Membership drives occur every fall. Parents sponsor many fundraising activities and special events that contribute to community spirit. The PTO Board meets regularly and all parents are encouraged to attend these open meetings. Meeting places and times can be found below and are provided in an email. Join the PTO Facebook Page.
School Accountability Committee (SAC)
The SAC is a group of school staff, parents and community members who meet monthly to assess and review building strengths and needs.
The committee also monitors the accountability process for alignment with goals set by the International Baccalaureate Organization, the district external review, the AIES site plan, and the AIES unified improvement plan.
The yearly SAC meeting schedule and meeting minutes will be posted as an announcement on this page.
