Learning Beyond the Classroom
Homework helps students practice new skills, prepare for classroom learning, apply familiar concepts and combine skills creatively. Assignments should have a clear purpose, accommodate different learning needs and include timely feedback.
Grade-Level Expectations
Teachers share homework procedures and expectations at the beginning of the school year. As general guidance, regular homework begins at about 10 minutes in kindergarten and increases by about 10 minutes for each grade level. Teachers may also assign reading or math fact practice.
Follow your teacher’s grade-level guidance.
